Scientific assistant - Department of Physical Anthropology Bern, Switzerland

The Institute of Forensic Medicine (IRM) is an academic institution which performs forensic services for the region, research and teaching. The IRM includes eight departments, one of them is the Department of Physical Anthropology. The Department investigates human remains from fo-rensic and archaeological contexts. To complement our team we are looking for a scientific assistant.

Your duties/responsibilites include

  • Examination of archaeological skeletons on national and international sites
  • Forensic investigations
  • Sampling and scientific analysis in the laboratory
  • Database, archive and collection management
  • Photography and image processing
  • Participation in teaching, research and public relations
  • Data analysis and publications

Your skills and qualifications

  • Degree in physical anthropology or comparable degree
  • Experience in fieldwork (excavations) and analysis of skeletons
  • Ability to work autonomously, flexibility, elementary German, very good command of English
  • Driving license, ideally own car
