Data for sustainable development
Background
New methods for data analysis, such as machine learning, have been developed over the last years. Data sources are growing exponentially across the globe, including in low-income countries. However, little research exists on how this data can be used for the benefits of the poor. Any strategy to developing solutions that draw from various national and international data sets needs to be informed by the user of such data sets and tools such as global and national policy makers.
Objective
Develop tools for using various national and international data sets to more effectively target the most pressing issues of the poor and for evidence-based policy-making.
Expected benefits
- In partner countries: Future leaders of sustainable development, new technologies for poverty reduction and evidence-based policy-making on sustainable development.
- In Switzerland: More efficient use of public funds.
