Biodiversity, health and well-being - critical links

Policy Brief No. 11 from UNESCO, SCOPE, and UNEP

Global biodiversity degradation significantly impacts the key components of human health and wellbeing. Ecosystem services, i.e. the benefits people obtain from ecosystems, are indispensable for the health and well-being of people around the world. Biodiversity degradation leads to changes in the supply and flow of these goods and services. The resulting impacts on economic and physical security, freedom and social relations have wide ranging consequences on human wellbeing and health.
